Classic Bruschetta with a touch of Tuscan Truffle

Looking for a quick appetizer? How about something to bring to a party? Just a quick snack to hold you over till your next meal? Well I'm about to share a recipe with you that will be a crowd pleaser. Bruschetta is one of my all time favorite snacks to have and when i can, I always try to keep the ingredients in my pantry and fridge. So you ready to cook?!

Ingredients you will need:
  • French Baguette
  • Tuscan Spice Blend (1 TBSP)
  • Truffle Sea Salt (2 TSP)
  • Tomato Paste (2 TSP)
  • Tomatoes (4-6)
  • Garlic Powder
  • Mozzarella
  • Olive Oil
  • Salt and Pepper
  • Basil (2 TBSP)

So you maybe wondering about the Tuscan Spice Blend an the Truffle Sea Salt. Well I found this really awesome Spice and Tea shop in Savannah and they make all of their spices, teas, etc. and this store smells amazing! When I immediately walked in, I didn't know where to look and the nice sales associate told me all about their Tuscan Spice Blend. She told me it was good to add to olive oil and dip bread into and it is really good to add to a bruschetta recipe. Now the moment she said that, I knew right away that I had to buy it and try it.

So you ready to cook? Well come on then
  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees
  2. Dice tomatoes into pieces (now this is where it depends on how many tomatoes you need, i used 6 because i was taking it to a party).
  3. Also dice mozzarella and chop basil
  4. In a bowl combine, tomatoes, basil, Tuscan Spice Blend, Tomato Powder and Olive Oil. ** now in this step if you prefer balsamic vinegar instead of Olive Oil, by all means swap it out!**
  5. In another small dish add 1/2 cup of olive oil and 1tsp of garlic powder. Combine until everything is blended together.
  6. On a baking sheet, lay of slices of bread. Then you are going to brush the Olive Oil and Garlic mixture onto each slice of bread. Then sprinkle each slice with a little bit of the sea salt. ** on this step i added the sea salt to the olive oil and garlic mixture; but you do whatever you would like**
  7. Toast bread in oven for about 5 minutes or until it is golden brown
  8. Once the bread is done, let it cool and then top with the tomato and mozzarella mixture
And there you have it! Now that wasn't so hard was it? You literally made this in less than 20 minutes! Say hello to your new party favorite!

So have I made your decision on your next meal choice? I sure hope so! The next time you are wondering where to go for a good meal, sweet treat or homemade recipe, come right here and this southern girl will take care of you.
