This blog post is a tribute to my new hometown Charleston, South Carolina. Since the terrible tragedy that struck the Emanuel AME Church, nothing but love and support has poured in for this community and everyone from across the U.S. to even local businesses have stepped up to help raise money for this community and help this grieving city.  One business took to their cupcakes and made a signature item with all the proceeds going towards the Mother Emanuel Hope Fund. The Charleston Love cupcake is your choice of a vanilla or chocolate cupcake topped with a vanilla/chocolate swirl buttercream. Finally it is topped with a little heart too show their love for Charleston.  This local joint is located at 433 King Street and is one that you do not want to miss and can satisfy anyone's sweet tooth. But don't worry, they have loads of other flavors as well!  Their cupcakes are baked fresh daily and are made from the finest ingredients like vanilla bean, sweet butter cream

Po'boys find themselves in the Palmetto State

Image
Po'boys, one of my favorite southern classics and one I try and search out every time I go out to eat and finally I found a place that makes them!  Located down a side street in downtown Charleston, it is one to definitely walk to and sit down to have a bite to eat.  Sweetwater Cafe has two locations: one is located at 137 Market Street in downtown Charleston and the other location is on James Island. While exploring the downtown district, I stumbled across this great little cafe and it helped satisfy my craving of wanting a po'boy!  Looking at the menu, your head runs in a  million different directions because you read one thing and it sounds good, then you read something else and you want that, and then you move on to the next thing and now you have caused yourself a problem because you have to choose what to order.  Scanning through the menu, my eyes landed on the one item I have been craving a long time... a Shrimp Po'boy. Seeing that on the menu, I knew that th

Now typically this post would be about a recipe from my own kitchen, but this post is taking a different direction today. Typically you go to the store, buy the ingredients you need and prepare an amazing meal, well lets take store bought ingredients out of the picture and head to the farmers market. Yes the farmers market, where everything is home grown and brought to you fresh! I mean anyone who loves to cook would choose fresh fruits and veggies to cook with any day. I love walking around a farmers market and seeing all the locally grown fruits and veggies that many stands have to offer, but I also love seeing fresh foods like po'boys, beignets and iced teas. Obviously being a foodie, I couldn't just walk around and not get anything, so I indulged!  Pictured below is the fabulous Hibiscus Raspberry Iced Tea that was out of this world amazing! Its vibrant color with hints of hibiscus and raspberry made for an amazing combination that was cool and refreshing on this h

Alright well the answer is pasta, but not just any old pasta, but homemade pasta. Nothing tastes better! What if I told you, you only needed 2 1/4 Cups of All Purposed Flour and 3 Eggs (beaten)? Ahh now your having second thoughts
