The Palmetto State ends it's food tour of the Happiest Place on Earth
First things first, if you haven't read Part 1, Part 2 or Part 3.. I highly advise it... it is not recommended but highly encouraged. Anyway, our culinary adventure through Walt Disney World is coming to an end, but not until we hit these must go-to Disney dining locations. Whose ready to see the must go-to places at WDW? Well keep reading and see what my final food destinations were.
If you have not been to Walt Disney World in a while, I highly recommend you go and soon because so much has changed (especially since I left working for the company a year ago). Disney Springs (aka Downtown Disney) has tons of new shops and restaurants, and pictured left is one of its new locations. The Boathouse is located right on the water and is an amazing place to sit down on the water and have a nice glass of wine and some fresh seafood.
Still a little unsure of this location? Keep reading and take a look at my amazing meal and drink pairing to that went with it. Trust me, after seeing and reading this, you will have no more hesitations and will be trying to get reservations their for yourself.
Pictured right is one of The Boathouse's most popular entree's of choice... the cedar planked salmon (yes it actually comes out on a cedar plank). Fork tender and cooked to perfection, this is one dish I will definitely be ordering again. It comes with a side of Frisee, Roasted Wild Mushrooms, Petite green beans and grape tomatoes; take a forkful of that with some of the salmon and you have one perfect seafood bite. Gone in minutes, it left me wanting more (so when I go back in April, I already know what I am ordering.)
Now I can't have a meal like this and not pair a perfect drink to go with it. Keep reading y'all to see what perfect mixed drink I chose to pair with this Cedar Planked Salmon.
Now I have never met a person who doesn't enjoy a good glass of sangria; so if you are a sangria person and are dining at The Boathouse, then I recommend you grabbing a glass of their signature drink. Crips and mixed to perfection, it is the best thing to enjoy while sitting in the warm Florida sun on the water. Pairing it with any of their seafood dishes is a must and one you definitely can not go wrong with.
So what do you think? Did I clear your hesitations about trying a new restaurant? I sure hope so because this is one place you don't want to miss on your next family trip to Walt Disney World.
Now their is just one more place I went while on this weekend getaway, I just have this feeling a lot of y'all will not be happy because it is probably one of the hardest places to get a reservation at, especially since I just walked right in. Yea y'all read that right... walked right in. So "Be My Guest" and keep reading to find out where I went.
So did anyone pick up on my hint in that last paragraph? Yes? No? Well I was pretty straight forward, so if you didn't pick up the hint then I am so sorry for you. But if you did, then I bet you are sitting their in envy trying to understand how I walked right in while you can't even get a reservation (lemme just say, it is the inner cast member in me).
"Be our guest! Be our guest! Put our service to the test! Tie your napkin 'round your neck, cherie, and we'll provide the rest! Soup du jour, Hot hors d'oeuvres, Why, we only live to serve! Try the Grey Stuff.. IT'S DELICIOUS!"
Sorry, one of my favorite Disney movies, and also one of my favorite places to eat in Magic Kingdom (if you are lucky to get a reservation). Walk through the iron gates and across the bridge toward the main doors of Beast's castle and get immersed in movie right from the start. From the music to armored knights to the beautiful ballroom where Beast and Belle have their most famous dance, I would have to say you couldn't get any better than that.
Alright Alright, enough about the decor.. let's get on to the food shall we?
Since the movie is portrayed that Belle lives in France, you can only guess what kind of food Be Our Guest serves... you guessed it, French Food. Now their lunch and dinner menu (they also just started serving breakfast) vary, so I am going off what I had for lunch (but their dinner menu is amazing.. sorry as a cast member I obviously went).
So when you walk in you get handed a rose magic band and when you get to the front of the line, you tap your magic band, place your order, pay and then go find a table (You can chose from the Ballroom, West Wing or Library) to enjoy your dining experience, but obviously I chose the Ballroom. Just take one look up and you will imagine you are watching the movie right from where you are standing.
Anyway, I ordered one of my favorite french dishes of all time... Croque Madame. Served with pommes frites (aka french fries) you have yourself one great meal. Now for those of you who do not know what Croque Madame is.. lemme fill you in. At this particular location, they toast the bread to perfection and in between is melted ham and swiss cheese. It is so good you will want to keep going back for another bite.
And now we have come to the end of our Walt Disney World culinary adventure. I was sad when it ended, but honestly wouldn't have traded it for anything. Hopefully i helped you pick out a few good places to hit while down in Orlando and pointed out a few can't miss menu items.
