The Palmetto State dines during Restaurant Week
Oh y'all, you need be so sad that you missed Restaurant Week here in Charleston. It took place September 9 - September 20 throughout the low country and it was a week that you definitely did not want to miss and you need to mark on your calendar for next year.
Now I could list for y'all every single restaurant that participated in Restaurant Week, but it would be a very long list; so i'm just gonna cut to the chase and let you see what I got to indulge in.
Located in Downtown Charleston on Queen Street sits this amazing, down the alley local spot called 82 Queen. Situated in a small court yard and tucked off, down the alley lies the most amazing place that I can't wait to go back to.
With their low country cuisine and fine dining atmosphere, it is the ultimate place to go for date night or a treat yourself meal... so for me it was a little of both, Twin sister date night and treat myself meal. So on to the food shall we!
So for this particular week, 82 Queen had a specific menu and I have to say, they knocked it out of the ball park with their selections. Everything from their appetizers to their dessert choices were impeccable and I can't wait to go and see what their full menu has to offer.
Now lets dive into the meal shall we!
Off to the right is one of the best versions of Mac N' Cheese that I have ever had. Fried Oysters sit on a bed of Horseradish- smoked Gouda Mac N' Cheese drizzled with a creole vinaigrette. Now I recommend getting a forkful of everything and their you have one amazing bite of mac n' cheese. The crunch of the oyster paired with the smoked gouda and horseradish, flavors explode in your mouth and making you crave just one more bite. Well let's just say that that one more bite turned into devouring the whole plate in a matter of minutes.
I bet y'all are dying for a bowl of mac n cheese now huh? I'm sorry to tempt you, but you might want to keep reading to see what other great flavors I experienced during this meal.
Now to pair with this amazing side, we got offered Rosemary Scallion biscuits. Warm and flakey, these biscuits are ones that I love and am dying to learn the recipe. No worries y'all, when i learn how to make them I will share it with you so you can enjoy these amazing biscuits.
It's a good thing that they only but a couple of biscuits in the basket because if they didn't, lord knows how many I would have indulged in.
Alright, Alright, I have stalled long enough, keep reading for the rest of the meal. This is one that you will truly enjoy as much as I did.
Next comes the entree course and I definitely had a tough time deciding what I wanted to order. Finally I made a decision and ordered the Queen Street Chicken Bog. With a flavor combination out of this world, Im so glad I had leftovers for the next day!
Chicken, Andouille Sausage, Carolina Gold Rice Pilaf, Vidalia Onions, Celery and sweet peppers make a combination that is unbelievably amazing. Trust me when I say this is an amazing dish and one I would go back to 82 Queen and have again and again.
When the plate arrived at the table, I immediately started eating with my eyes (I mean how do you think I was able to take this picture?!), but that didn't last very long because once I took the first bite, I kept going back for more and more.
And as much as I wanted to finish the whole plate, I wanted to save some room for dessert and I am so glad I did because what I had for dessert topped off an amazing meal. Keep reading so you can see why I just had to save some room for dessert.
Alright, to top off this meal i ended on a very sweet, italian note. This Limoncello Marscapone Cake was ultimate perfection. Light and fluffy with hints of Limoncello, this is the one dessert that I definitely have to make.
Now once the plate was set in front of me, I knew their was no way I was going to leave on piece of this cake on the plate... and I was right lol
