Food For The Southern Soul: My First Palmetto Eats
As a southern girl myself, I can never deny myself the opportunity to get some good southern food, no matter what the cost. So when I was walking around my new home (Charleston, SC) in downtown and stumbled across this great find, I knew I couldn't not stop and get something.
This joint is one I would recommend to tourists and locals alike, because lets face it, you can never get to much southern BBQ. The name of this awesome find is Food for the Southern Soul. Located at the Charleston City Market, it is one you definitely have to go out of your way for and grab a piece of their southern soul food.
Pictured left is my delicious meal I bought. For $11.00 I got a pulled pork sandwich in a Carolina Mustard Sauce and a double side of Mac & Cheese and some Iced Tea. Now tell me, does any of that sound bad to you?
The pulled pork sammie is piled high with fresh pulled pork and slathered in sauce dripping from every inch of the sammie. Take one bite and your taste buds will go for one crazy ride, but in the best possible way.
Now the next bite I recommend you taking is of their southern Mac & Cheese. If you think you have had the best mac & cheese, you clearly haven't had this yet! It is creamy and cheesy and delicious and just melts in your mouth. As a foodie, I have had so many different versions of mac & cheese, but this by far has to be the best one yet (besides my own homemade recipe of course)!
Finally to top off this already perfect meal, I washed it all down with some Sweet Iced Tea. Yes Iced Tea, which is a southern staple in any household in the south. Their Iced Tea complimented the whole meal perfectly. One cool fact to note about South Carolina is that Summerville, SC is the birth place of Sweet Tea, and thank goodness I live so close to its origin! So the next time you are thinking about your drink choice to compliment your meal, automatically go for the Iced Tea or Sweet Tea.
So have I made your decision on your next meal choice? I sure hope so! The next time you are wondering where to go for a good meal, sweet treat or homemade recipe, come right here and this southern girl will take care of you.
Missy's Munchies is the munchies fix to help your munchies kicks!
