The Palmetto State paddles down Shem Creek to get good eats

Hey y'all! It has been quite some time since I wrote last, but I have had some awesome food adventures and I can't wait to share them with you! So let's dive in shall we!

Red's Ice House, which sits right on Shem Creek is the place to be on a nice summer night. With outside seating and a bar, rooftop deck and water views of Shem Creek, you definitely want to add this to your list of must have restaurants. Also like the menu says, "It's as local as it gets!!"

One look at the packed parking lot, you will know that you have made the right choice. With a casual, beach atmosphere, pull up a seat at the bar and indulge in some of the best food in Shem Creek.

Keep readin' y'all to see the great eats and drinks I indulged in at my most recent visit.

Open up the menu and you will see everything from Sea Scallops to Lobster rolls and a southern classic Lowcountry boil. Now please tell me y'all know what a Lowcountry boil is... if you don't then I feel so bad for you.

On the right hand side I got marinated Sea Scallops with homemade chips. When it arrives you eyes immediately start eating before you actually do! The smell is out of this world and I immediately dug in. Marinated in their special sauce it immediately melts in your mouth. One thing I love about Red's is how fresh everything is, even their house made chips, which makes me go back to Red's every time.

Don't worry y'all, this isn't the only thing that I ate that night. Keep reading and see what else I munched on during this visit.

On your left you see southern fried shrimp, house made fries and jalapeno hushpuppies. Now please make me a happy southern girl and tell me you know what hush puppies are! Well if you don't I'll tell you. A Hushpuppy is a southern side dish made from a cornmeal batter that is typically fried or baked in a small ball. It's pure deliciousness and my go-to side dish and goes with any southern dish. Now since I am allergic to Jalapenos, I could not eat these, but they looked absolutely amazing and heard the people around me rave about them!

Now the southern fried shrimp was to die for. Dip it in BBQ sauce or Ketchup and you are golden. Have I ever steered you wrong in the past? Well then trust me on this and grab this fried basket of goodness and enjoy!

The last thing I indulged in was a fresh lobster roll. Mixed with mayo, scallions and other great ingredients, this is one that tastes fresh from the first bite to the last. It comes with a side of house made chips, this sammie will be gone in just a matter of bites.

Now y'all know me and I couldn't try all of this amazing food with out adding a drink of course. So to compliment this amazing meal, my family and I ordered a pitcher of house made margaritas. Served with rimmed glasses and fresh cut limes, it complements any menu item from Red's Ice House!

So have I made your decision on your next meal choice? I sure hope so! The next time you are wondering where to go for a good meal, sweet treat or homemade recipe, come right here and this southern girl will take care of you.

Remember: Missy's Munchies is the munchies fix to help your munchies kicks!

Happy Eating Y'all!
