The Palmetto State dines with fresh pasta and great wine bar

Now y'all know Charleston has some amazing eats, farm to table restaurants and great places to grab a drink; but what if I told you I found a spot that takes the farm to table concept and great cocktails all in one spot. Muse, located at 82 Society Street in downtown Charleston, is tucked away in a quaint old house restored into a restaurant. Walk through the gate and into the front door and you will find yourself in a cozy front entrance looking either at the bar to your right or a room full of tables to your left. Grabbing a table for two, the waiter hands us our menus and immediately my eyes indulge in the whole menu. Shall we see some pictures? Read about the food? I thought y'all would never ask.

For starters (thanks for the recommendation from our waiter), we ordered Bruschetta; but it wasn't your typical bruschetta, it was toasted bread smeared with a garlic hummus topped with cherry tomatoes, mozzarella and basil sprinkled with some balsamic. Now I know what you are thinking, that does not sound good at all, but trust me, one bite and you will devour it in just one bite (no I don't feel guilty for doing that). I have to say, thank goodness we each got two pieces because if I only had one piece I was for sure going to order more (trust me, you would too). Now don't you worry, this wasn't the only thing I ordered. Keep reading and I'll share my entree plus my sisters entree as well.

Served in a warm dish sits a seafood stew and honestly your eyes are eating before you can even lift up your spoon. Mussels, Scallops, Shrimp and Lobster served over a bed of orzo and smothered in a broth you immediately dig your spoon in and enjoy. Now y'all know I love seafood, so getting one dish with all of my favorite seafood options, I truly was in food heaven. How to eat this you ask? My suggestion to you is to get a little bit of broth, some orzo and a piece of either shrimp, scallop, mussel or lobster. Once you lift the spoon, the aroma fills your nose and suddenly your mouth begins to water. Now take that first bite and you won't hesitate to dip your spoon for another bite... and another and another.  In a matter of minutes the bowl was empty (and I mean can you honestly blame me... just look at that picture).

Now I have to share with you the main entree that my sister got. She tried one of their fresh, house made pasta dishes, and this definitely did not disappoint.

Indulging in their fresh, house made pasta; my sister ordered their Gnocchi Verde. House made pasta pillows topped with tomatoes, basil and a roasted shallot cream; this is one dish you are going to want to order (you can also add lobster or shrimp for a small fee). Personally I thought the shrimp enhanced the dish, so consider adding some seafood to your pasta and I promise you will not be disappointed.

So what do you think? Wanting to give this cozy hotspot a try? I highly recommend it. Even if you do not go for the food, go and try some of their wines (they are known to have one of the best wine bars in Charleston).

So have I made your decision on your next meal choice? I sure hope so! The next time you are wondering where to go for a good meal, sweet treat or homemade recipe, come right here and this southern girl will take care of you.
