The Palmetto State goes to the Happiest Place on Earth Part 1

Alright y'all, I have been on one crazy culinary adventure this month. Traveled to Orlando, Florida twice and experienced many amazing eats. During the next few posts, the food adventure I will take you on is through Orlando and like I did, you will get to experience the amazing eats that you can find there.  So whose ready to travel around the happiest place on earth and eat some good food? Well come on, let's go!

So for the first stop on this culinary adventure, I take you to a British- style tavern called The Pub. The music, atmosphere and employee uniform, you are transported to a real British- style tavern, and not only that, but the food and drinks do not disappoint. Reading through their long drink menu, you can immerse yourself in beers from all around the world, or just popular, every day beers; but for me, I decided to be adventurous and try something I have never had before.

A popular beer of Ireland, Smithwick's is a smooth mixture of aromas of roasted malt and herbs, a subtle dried raspberry flavor and a hint of smoke on the finish. Now I'm not one to go for dark ale's, but just reading that description, it automatically drew me in and tempted me to try their famous brew. Served in a chilled pint glass, this Ireland brew is one that I would turn to again and again. But I wouldn't come into this establishment and only have a brew, obviously I had some munchies too. Keep reading and I'll share with you the Irish inspired food I paired with this terrific brew.

When it comes to choosing appetizers to share aka "Shareable's", it can be a pretty tough decision to just choose one, so in my father and I's case, we chose three. From bottom of the picture to top we have warm pretzels with a beer cheese spread, Flash Fried Calamari, and finally Sliders.

Let me tell you, this terrific trio was a perfect pairing with my Smithwick's brew; especially the warm pretzels with beer cheese spread.

Now keep reading and I'll go into a little more description of each Shareable, and let you indulge with me on these tasty treats.

Imagine having warm pretzel bread and some Belhaven beer cheese spread washed down with a Smithwick's beer. Well lemme tell y'all, that this is one amazing combination. With hints of Belhaven beer sneaking through the cheese spread, it compliments the warm, salty pretzel bread and makes you want to keep going back for more. Also served on the side are cucumbers, carrots and celery. Even though it sounds like an odd side item, dip them in the beer cheese and you have an amazing snack! Let's jut say that this was one of the first Shareable that was gone from our table. But don't you worry, we still have two more Shareable's to talk about, so keep reading and find out!

The next Shareable we are going to indulge in is Flash Fried Calamari. Their are just no words to describe this amazing shareable. Lightly breaded and then quickly fried in oil and then topped with a little salt, this is one amazing eat that I am dying for again. These steak cut calamari was the first shareable gone from our table, and i'm surprised my dad and I didn't order another plate. Calamari is one of my favorite seafood choices, so when we both saw this on the menu, we knew that it had to be in our trio of shareables. So when you head into the Orlando area and go to this great joint, make sure this is one appetizer you add to your table; trust me it is one that you will have no regrets about!

Finally we have reached the last Shareable of the night. Now these look like your typical pub sliders, but they have something super delicious on them, that not just any slider can have on them. Soaked in Guinness, these sliders are topped with onions soaked in Guinness; and let me tell you, they are delicious. Give me a plate of those onions and I would eat just those (but the people around me probably would not appreciate that). Served with a side of pickle chips, these are the perfect pairing with any brew that The Pub's menu has to offer.

So are you ready to pack your bags and head to Orlando, so you can have these amazing eats? I know I'm ready to go back! But promise me when you go down there you bring me with you! I mean who else is going to tell you what to have?!

So have I made your decision on your next meal choice? I sure hope so! The next time you are wondering where to go for a good meal, sweet treat or homemade recipe, come right here and this southern girl will take care of you.

Remember: Missy's Munchies is the munchies fix to help your munchies kicks!
