I can bet you right now that if you walked to your kitchen and looked in your pantry and cupboards, you have every ingredient. Go ahead, I dare you to go look... So now that your back, I bet your like "oh well she was right, I do have everything to make this." Well let's get started shall we.
First (like always) lets gather our ingredients.
So how did yours turn out?! Good right?! And it was easy! See I would never steer you wrong. This is one dish I will be making again and again. So have I made your decision on your next meal choice? I sure hope so! The next time you are wondering where to go for a good meal, sweet treat or homemade recipe, come right here and this southern girl will take care of you.
First (like always) lets gather our ingredients.
- Biscuit dough (1 can)
- Baking Soda (1/4 cup)
- Water (4 cups)
- Cheese (2 cups.. or more.. I always add more)
- Butter (2 tablespoons)
- Coarse Salt (or any salt you have on hand)
- Beer (I used Bud Light, and a couple of tablespoons)
- Pepper
- Red Pepper Flakes or Cayenne
- Egg (1, beaten)
- Milk (1 cup)
Well now that you have gathered your ingredients lets get cooking shall we. First you need to preheat your oven to 425 degrees. Next line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Third, take a pot and add your baking soda and water. Bring to a rapid boil and then turn down to a simmer. While you are waiting for the water/ baking soda mixture to come up to a boil, open your biscuit dough and cut each biscuit into quarters; roll each quarter into a ball and pinch to seal. Now that your pot of water/ baking soda is boiling; pop in each biscuit into the water and let simmer for about a minute. Use a slotted spoon and take each biscuit out of the water and place on the baking sheet. Brush beaten egg onto the top of each biscuit and pop into the oven for about 10-12 minutes.
Now for the cheese sauce. In a pot, add the butter and melt. Once melted, add flour and whisk until completely mixed together; once combined add milk. Keep whisking as to not scorch the milk; once the milk starts to thicken, add the cheese (and this is where I leave the amount up to you, I LOVE cheese so I always add more than necessary, but again thats up to you). Whisk mixture until the cheese has melted and your sauce is nice and smooth. Now add 2-3 tablespoons of beer (my boyfriend and I are not big on tasting tons of alcohol in our dishes, so I only added just enough to taste it but not over power the sauce). Whisk in beer and let simmer for a couple of minutes. Add red pepper flakes, salt and pepper and stir. Remove from heat and serve in a dish!
